Frequently asked question

Here are some Frequently Asked Questions based on our 10 years of business

1. How high should LED street lights be installed?

Generally, the height of street light poles ranges from 3 meters to 14 meters, depending on design requirements. For major roads in large cities, street light poles of 8 meters or higher are typically chosen, while residential roads may require poles of 6 meters or less. Depending on the wattage of LED street lights, installation heights generally range from 8 to 12 meters for 150W and 200W models, or 6 meters for 50W and 80W models. Most street lights are installed at a height of 15 to 20 feet above the road surface to balance vehicle passage and ground lighting requirements.

2. What is the spacing between LED street lights?

The distance between two street lights is typically three to four times the height of the light pole. For instance, if the light pole is 12 meters high, the spacing between two street lights should be between 36 and 48 meters.

3. How many watts do LED street lights typically have?

High-Pressure Sodium Lamp: Available in 70W, 100W, 125W, 150W, 250W, and 400W. Metal Halide Light: Offers 70W, 100W, 125W, 150W, 250W, and 400W options. LED Street Light: Ranges from 20W to 300W, including choices like 20W, 30W, 40W, 50W, 60W, 80W, 100W, 120W, 150W, 180W, 200W, 250W, and 300W.

4. What is the replacement ratio of LED street lights to traditional street lights?

30W is equivalent to a 75W Metal Halide (MH) Street Light or a 75W High-Pressure Sodium (HPS) Street Light. 60W is equivalent to a 150W MH Street Light or a 150W HPS Street Light. 100W is equivalent to a 250W MH Street Light or a 250W HPS Street Light. 150W is equivalent to a 400W MH Street Light or a 400W HPS Street Light.

5. What is the operating voltage of LED street lights?

Generally, most street lights operate at high voltage, but the working voltage varies in different countries or regions. For instance, in the US market, street lights typically operate at 110-120VAC 50/60Hz, whereas in European or African markets, the standard voltage is 220-240VAC 50/60Hz. Additionally, for special applications, street lights may only use low voltage such as DC12V, DC24V, or DC48V. ZGSM street lights come with a wide voltage input range, from 90-305V, with high voltages like 347V or 480V, and low voltages like 12V or 24V also being available.

6. How to choose led street light

Brightness Requirement: Determine required brightness levels for lighting needs. Power and Efficiency: Choose efficient LED street lights to save energy. Color Temperature and CRI: Select suitable color temperature and high CRI LED lights. Lifespan and Reliability: Opt for LED lights with good quality and long lifespan. Light Control and Smart Control: Consider if light and smart control features are necessary. Environmental Friendliness and Cost-effectiveness: Choose LED lights meeting environmental standards and offering cost-effectiveness.

7. How led street lights work?

Light Source: High-pressure sodium lamps and LED lamps are common sources. Sodium lamps emit yellow light via sodium vapor, while LEDs offer efficiency and long lifespan. Power Supply: Mains power is connected to lamps through cables, converting electricity into light. Control System: Controls switch, brightness, and timing, adjusting brightness automatically for energy efficiency. Optical System: Reflectors and lenses focus and distribute light evenly for optimal illumination. Bracket and Pole: Installed on brackets or poles for height and range, considering weight, stability, and wind resistance.

8. What are the benefits of led street lights?

Street lights offer numerous benefits. They can enhance safety in urban areas, reducing the risk of accidents in these locations. Additionally, they consume less electricity and have lower operating costs compared to other traditional lighting options. Street lights are environmentally friendly, decreasing carbon dioxide emissions. Moreover, they artificially extend the hours of daylight, allowing activities to take place for longer periods. They also improve safety for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians.

9. What factors should be considered when planning LED street lighting projects?

The factors to consider include lighting requirements based on road classification, traffic flow, and pedestrian activity; selecting suitable LED fixtures; color temperature and light distribution for optimal visibility; and the potential for smart lighting features.

10. How is the maintenance of LED street light systems carried out?

Maintenance activities for LED street lights include regular inspections, cleaning, and lens maintenance; timely replacement of faulty components; and keeping records of maintenance activities for performance tracking.

11. How often do LED street lights need to be replaced?

LED street lights are renowned for their long lifespan, typically operating for 50,000 to 100,000 hours or more, depending on quality and operating conditions. This means LED street lights may not need replacement for 10 to 20 years. However, LED components may fail over time, requiring maintenance or replacement. Regular maintenance can extend the lifespan of LED street lights and ensure optimal performance. With advancements in LED technology, the lifespan and reliability of LED street lighting systems continue to improve, reducing the need for frequent replacements.
