Typically, the horizontal and vertical illuminance levels are maintained at a comparable ratio, around 1:1. The illuminance levels increase with the standard of the game. For leisure or training hockey clubs, the lux level should be around 300 lux. The standard lux level for amateur hockey matches is approximately 500 lux, while professional matches require higher levels, around 750 lux. If the hockey field is designed to host international events such as championships, Commonwealth games or world cups, we require even higher illumination levels, ranging from 1000 to 2000 lux.
